The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) has announced the Minimum Producer Price (MPP) for Raw Shea Nut (Kernel) for the 2026 crop season in accordance with Section 3(f) of the TCDA Act, 2019 (Act 1010) and Regulation 47(1) of the Tree Crops Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2471).

The Authority has fixed the Minimum Producer Price at:

GHS 9.01 per kilogram
(Equivalent to GHS 765.63 per 85kg bag)

The approved price takes effect from 1st June 2026 and is based on the following quality parameters:

  • Moisture Content: 8–10%
  • Free Fatty Acids (FFA): 6–8%
  • Impurities: 2–4%

The announcement forms part of TCDA’s mandate to regulate, develop and promote Ghana’s tree crops sector while ensuring fair returns to producers.

Export Permit Requirement

The Authority further reminds all stakeholders that since Wednesday, 1st April 2026, any actor or entity intending to export Cashew, Coconut, Oil Palm, Rubber, Mango and Shea, whether processed or unprocessed, must first obtain a valid written permit from the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA).

According to the Authority, the directive is intended to strengthen the statutory regulatory framework and improve data management systems within the tree crops sector.

Compliance and Sanctions

TCDA cautions that failure to comply with the directive constitutes a breach of the law and may attract sanctions in accordance with the relevant provisions of the TCDA Act.

The Authority also advises all licensed exporters to regularize their export transactions and ensure full compliance with the provisions of L.I. 2471.

In addition, all exporters are required to present proof of payment (receipt) of development levies to TCDA before the issuance of a Phytosanitary Certificate by the Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Directorate (PPRSD).

The Authority has urged all stakeholders within the shea and broader tree crops value chain to comply with the regulations to promote transparency, traceability and sustainable sector growth.
