National Security impounds smuggled vegetable oil, owner arrested.

 National Security personnel on November 21, 2023, impounded a truckload of "Aicha Vegetable Oil" revealing over 630 cooking oil containers smuggled from Togo to evade border duties.

Trader Belinda Mensah, known as Hajia, detained for investigation, and the truck (license plate AC 8143-23) was seized. Tree Crops Development Authority CEO, Hon. William Agyapong Quaittoo, disclosed that cooking oil smugglers undermine local producers by avoiding taxes, causing financial losses. Government restrictions on border oil imports started on October 31, 2023. TCDA and National Security are in collaboration to track and apprehend smugglers

The Tree Crops Development Authority(TCDA) is a body established by an Act of Parliament, the Tree Crops Development Authority Act 2019 (Act 1010,2019). TCDA is corporate with perpetual succession to regulate and develop in a sustainable environment; production, processing, and trading of six tree crops: Cashew, Shea, Mango, Coconut, rubber, and oil palm in Ghana.
